Great car very comfortable on long drives.
All around great car. Limited trunk space for extended journeys. Love the way it handles the road, the comfort, the large GPS display and the exceptional sound system.

Problematic car

Stylish inside and out. All the bells and whistles. But every 6 months, it gives me an expensive problem. I've spent about 4k on the car (not including oil changes) and I've owned it for 3.5 years so far. I will sell it once my car note is paid off. For the amount of money I've spent on the car, I could have bought a Mercedes Benz c class!

Do not buy a used Jetta Hybrid

We bought our 2013 Hybrid Jetta in 2017 with 61K miles on it. We had trouble with it within the first month of owning it. It started with the fuel door not opening and the gas pumps constantly shutting off when the tank was not full. We attempted to have that repaired, but it remained a problem, despite the fact that we kept taking it back to the dealership for repair. Then the check engine light came on, and we were told the car needed a new gas tank. (That's a first for me!) It turns out that the EVAP system was totally worthless. We paid to have the parts replaced that they recommended (except the gas tank) --about 2700.00 worth of parts and work. The car just completely died less than 3 years after we purchased it for 10,500. We were told that to diagnose the current problem, we would have to pay for a new battery (the one in it is less than a year old) and a new fuel pump. The check engine light has never been off in the car for more than 3 weeks after a visit to the VW service department. They don't want to tell you that they can't fix the car, but they can't. I brought it back to the dealership at least 5 times in two months. I've owned VWs my whole life--Fox, Passat, Jetta TDI, a Beetle Turbo Diesel, and this Jetta Hybrid. The best of all of them was the 1999 Passat wagon, which we had for 12 years and it only needed routine maintenance and wear-and-tear replacements. It's a shame that VW no longer cares about quality and reliability.

With 45mpgs, this hybrid saves so much money on gas. It's fast, responsive and fun to drive. I've owned just about every hybrid vehicle and the VW Jetta Hybrid takes the cake.

Did everything I asked out of it and was surprisingly peppy for a hybrid, would definitely recommend as a daily driver. Haven't had any issues.

Car made with junk yard parts !!

I bought this car used 1.5 year ago. It had 43K miles on it. VW 7 speed transmission failure is known so i spent extra $1700 and bought extended power train warranty. Smart decision from my side! Oh wait Nooo...It is continuously giving me other problems. First fuel door stuck. Dealer replaced it with $300 charge. Then Heater was not working. Dealer flush the heater core and then minimum amount of heat comes out from vent. In peak winter when temperature goes below 10F it is really difficult to drive. Dealer charged me $400 for this. Then all the sudden at gas station i am not able to fill the gas tank. Nozzle was keep shutting down. Initially dealer thought it was fuel tank pressure release valve is faulty they replaced it but didn't fix the issue. Then they realize it is the actuator which control this valve. Finally the issue got fixed after spending $450. Now in peak summer AC is not working. Probably the compressor is gone. I don't know how many more parts will fail in the future. My question to VW. Did you guys made this car with Junk yard parts ? What type of quality products was used to make these cars. I used to own Audi A4 2012 before this whose engine started misfiring at 95K. Finally, I traded in and got a Infiniti which runs smooth with out single issue. First and last VW from my side. Stay away from this car if you want to avoid expensive repairs. Now I understand why value of VW cars depreciate so much. On the other hand side car drives really nice. You Wont even feel driving hybrid because it has turbo engine but it is of no use considering poor reliability.

I have a heavy foot. slow sunday drives can get you 48mpg. car is quick and top end is limited to 126 mph, yes it goes that fast, will run at 90 all day long. need better tilt in driver seat.

It WAS a great car and then 4500 miles over the warranty - the MAIN BIG BATTERY goes out! $7K to fix it and the car is worth $7k WORKING!!! BE CAREFUL if you buy a hybrid - yes i know they do not make them anymore... smart move on their part to get out... I know have a GREAT looking car in my driveway that I cannot start with spending at least $7K!!! Any recommendations for the car?
